The Honda XR 650L SUB Mount kit or SUB Mount Kit for the XR models is for those of you who want to run this setup on your bike and need the whole package.
The BRP SUB “Scotts Under Bar” Mount is the latest in stabilizer mounting options for the XR 650L models. This is a very popular setup for off road, dual sport and riders of taller stature. All BRP SUB Mounts are designed to run 1 1/8″ ProTaper style handlebar and mount a Scotts stabilizer below the handlebar, replacing the bar mount assembly on your BRP or Scotts triple clamp.
The SUB Mount setup offers several benefits over a conventional “above bar” stabilizer setup.
- Reduced risk of injury by coming into contact with stabilizer
- Approximately 1″ taller bar position on most models
- Enables you to run a bar pad for 1 more level of protection
BRP XR SUB Mounts are designed exclusively to fit BRP or Scotts triple clamps only. The SUB Mount is an easy bolt on assembly.

- BRP Key Switch Bracket TCH-7058-1
- Scotts Steering Stabilizer SDD-4200-40 (40mm flat link arm preferred but can work with the stepped arm)
SPECIAL NOTES:
Using a lower bend bar can often emulate the stock bar height. Because of the SUB Mounts increased height, triple clamp style enduro handguard mounts will not work with many bar bends. Furthermore, we recommend running our BMI-9254 Hand Guard Mounts.

Well, upgraded my stock 1997 Honda XR650L to travel on the Back Country Discover Routes. I’m getting old and wanted more comfort for my hands. After installing the triple clamp and Scotts stabilizer, I also purchased a Fass Flexx Bar. So far, all is good. Settings on the Scotts stabilizer are currently factory settings and I feel just this little setup helps with deflection. I am still testing before the BDRs but, so far, all is good. the installation went smoothly, no issues. I just hate sand. 🙂 Lol..
